Position Overview

The Warrior Athlete Readiness & Resilience (WARR) Strength & Conditioning Coordinator is responsible for managing and delivering comprehensive health, wellness, and performance programs. The role supports active-duty military, their families, retirees, and Department of Defense (DoD) civilians. The coordinator will design, implement, and oversee integrated fitness initiatives aimed at maintaining amphibious capabilities while reducing musculoskeletal wear and tear. Areas of focus include strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, mental skills, injury prevention, mobility, and recovery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and leading Unit Physical Training (PT) programs.
  • Administering self-directed fitness initiatives, special events, and instructional programs.
  • Conducting briefings and seminars on health and performance.
  • Managing High-Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) programs, including coaching and administration.
  • Supporting sports programs and assisting with special events.
  • Overseeing equipment maintenance and conducting regular inspections.

Collaboration & Leadership
This role works alongside human performance and Semper Fit teams to deliver holistic Warrior Athlete programs. The coordinator liaises with internal and external stakeholders, including Force Fitness Instructors (FFI), Sports Medicine Injury Prevention Specialists (SMIP), and healthcare professionals, to enhance and integrate performance programming.

Duties include developing and delivering briefings, evaluating programs, analyzing performance metrics, and preparing annual plans to align with Marine Corps policies. The coordinator will also manage administrative tasks such as budget preparation, operating procedures, and performance reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The position involves mentoring, appraising, and assigning work to subordinates. The coordinator will manage staff schedules, provide training, advocate for employee recognition, and ensure compliance with safety, fire, and environmental policies.

Marketing & Collaboration
The coordinator will work with marketing teams to promote programs, implement joint initiatives, and ensure programs are effectively publicized.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree (or senior-level enrollment) in Health Promotions, Health Education, Nutrition, Public Health, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Psychology/Sports Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certifications:
    • NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USAW Level 1 certifications (required within 12 months of hire).
    • CPR, AED, and first aid certifications (must remain current).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum three years in strength and conditioning coaching for collegiate, elite, or tactical athletes.
    • Preferred experience in sports psychology, behavioral modification, and working with nationally recognized sports organizations.
  • Skills: Public speaking, professional writing, computer literacy, and desktop publishing skills are preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 45 lbs independently and heavier objects with assistance.
  • Other: A valid driver’s license is required.
