Duties and Responsibilities

As a Security Guard, duties include:

• Conducting mobile and foot patrols to ensure the physical security of buildings and perimeter fences.
• Controlling access points for vehicles and pedestrians in compliance with standard procedures.
• Preparing incident reports to document occurrences on-site.
• Responding to theft, trespassing, accidents, and other incidents to prevent loss or damage.
• Assisting in emergency responses, including active shooter scenarios, antiterrorism measures, and physical security operations.
• Operating two-way communication systems to coordinate with emergency personnel when necessary.

Conditions of Employment

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

• Maintain compliance with Individual Personnel Reliability Program and Chemical Personnel Reliability Program standards.
• Pass an annual Physical Agility Test (PAT) and physical examination.
• Obtain and maintain Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray certification and firearm proficiency.
• Be available for shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Wear a uniform and protective equipment.
• Work in varying weather conditions and remain on call 24/7 as needed.
• Complete mandatory monthly training and adhere to travel requirements (up to 10%).

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following:

Specialized Experience at the GS-6 Level

• At least one year of specialized experience, including:
  1. Maintenance and operation of weapons and related equipment (e.g., handguns, shotguns).
  2. Implementing law enforcement policies and operating communication equipment.
  3. Using surveillance systems like radios, CCTVs, and intrusion detection systems.

Acceptable experience may include guard duties performed in the Armed Forces or Coast Guard.

Dugway Proving Ground, UT

• Approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, UT, and 90 minutes from Salt Lake City, UT.
