CONCEPT DEVELOPER (FIRES) JOBS:

This position focuses on the strategic development and assessment of future military concepts within the Department of Defense. The candidate will analyze and evaluate various stages of concept development, conducting in-depth push and pull analyses on both current and projected force structures. This role is essential for advancing concept designs that align with future military needs and involves working as a subject matter expert in specific learning events, all with the goal of developing and refining critical concept documentation for the organization.

Core Duties:

  • Analyze Concept Development: Conducts comprehensive evaluations of the concept development process, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas for enhancement.
  • Push and Pull Analysis: Provides critical analyses of both current and anticipated force structures to support future-oriented concept designs. This involves assessing readiness, applicability, and the strategic feasibility of various force configurations.
  • Document Creation and Review: Drafts, reviews, and refines key documents such as white papers, Concept Capability Plans (CCPs), Capabilities-Based Assessments (CBAs), and Capability Integration Maps (CIMs). These documents play a vital role in setting the standard for future operational readiness.
  • Research: Undertakes detailed research, including reading, writing, and revising technical documents. This role requires meticulous research and documentation to support the development of forward-looking military concepts.

Key Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: Candidates must either hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Travel: This role involves up to 25% Temporary Duty (TDY) travel.
  • Drug Testing: Pre-employment drug testing and periodic testing during employment, especially in cases of reasonable suspicion or post-incident, are mandatory.
  • Probation Period: This position is subject to a three-year probationary period unless the candidate has previously completed similar probation requirements as specified in federal guidelines.

Qualifications:

To qualify, candidates must meet specific experience and/or eligibility requirements. Eligible applicants include:

  • Current Army or Department of Defense Civilian Employees

Experience:

  • Specialized Experience: At least one year of experience at the next lower grade level is required. This includes tasks like developing future force plans, conducting air defense assessments, establishing operational standards, and drafting CCPs and CBAs.
  • Educational Substitutions: For this position, only professional experience, not educational qualifications, may be used to meet eligibility criteria.

Additional Information:

  • Selective Service Registration: Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, must certify their compliance with Selective Service requirements.
